I purchased this product for my son, he was previously in a graco infant car seat which he couldnt stand being in. The visibility is better in this one. If I had known earlier, I would have started him in this convertible one.

This is a great car seat. The only issue is that is can be difficult to install in some vehicles but I believe that the quality of build and safety override that issue. It is much more difficult to install in rear facing mode; not bad in front facing mode. Make sure to always use the tether in either mode - it really helps to tighten up the install.

I have not even had the time to install the car seat before the cover tore apart!
I received the car seat and unpacked it. I noticed a huge spot of soft adhesive all over the side of the cover. I took my finger and slid it across the glue to see if the adhesive would ball up and lift off the fabric. When I did this it rubbed a hole JUST USING MY FINGER in the fabric.
I called Sunshine Kids. There reply was to pack it up, ship it back to Amazon for a replacement. I thought this was stupid because the cost to ship back a 25 pound package to Amazon was almost the cost of a new car seat cover.
She said I am not their customer. That Amazon is there customer and I am Amazons customer. What a bunch of pass the buck customer service!
So, if you like buying from a company that won't accept responsibility for the quality of their products and would rather blame the store than fix the problem then this is the car seat for you.
As for me. I just spent [...] for a piece of junk. How can you trust it when the cover is so cheap.
I have two Britax car seats and bought this one for just traveling. DO NOT BUY THIS PRODUCT FOR DAILY USE!

This is a great seat! Our daughter is sitting very well in it (she was 17 months for the first use) It is taking less please in the car than some other carseats which is great especially when you have 3 kids all in car seats like us...The seat is very sturdy and I just love the straps they fit really well.
So for us it works out really well.
Some others will say that maybe the seat is low (lower seating) so that the child maybe not look out the window very well but that is not an problem for us as long as she has a good seat...
And yes it is maybe heavy but which seat isn't except for simple boosters...at least with the seats metal frame you have a max of protection and oh yes the seat is folding so it makes it eassier to travel with even if it's heavy...

I installed this car seat rear-facing in the middle of the backseat of our 1999 Toyota Camry. It is working well for my 1+ year old toddler. I had read previous reviews that caused me to worry that it would be difficult to adjust the harness in rear-facing position, but I did not experience this problem. The back of the carseat does brace against the back of the 2 front seats, but the fireman who inspected my installation said this is not a safety issue and is in fact better since it provides more stability for the carseat.
